Background of the Seamaster Line

Omega launched the Seamaster line in 1948 to commemorate the brand's 100th anniversary. Originally, the Seamaster was a civilian model inspired by the waterproof wristwatches used by the British military during World War II. It quickly gained popularity for its reliability in harsh conditions.

Introduction of the Diver 300M

In 1993, Omega introduced the Seamaster Diver 300M collection. This series combined advanced water resistance with robust construction and was embraced by professional divers and enthusiasts. The Diver 300M gained major popularity when it appeared in the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye, worn by Pierce Brosnan, setting the stage for the Bond and Omega partnership that continues today.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Paris Olympics

On July 26, 2023—exactly 365 days before the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games—Omega unveiled Reference 522.21.42.20.04.001. To mark the occasion, Omega initially released the model exclusively through its flagships in Paris before making it available to authorized global luxury watch retailers.

Unlike legacy Olympic timepieces that featured prominent event branding on the dial, Omega designed this edition with subtle luxury and historical reference points:

  • Gold Medals in Mind: The bezel was sculpted from 18K Moonshine™ Gold—Omega’s proprietary yellow gold alloy inspired by moonlight, engineered for enhanced fade-resistance and a softer hue.

  • Art Deco Heritage: The date wheel at 6 o'clock uses the custom Paris 2024 Art Deco typography rather than standard font.

  • The Flame & Emblem: The central seconds hand carries a subtle Paris 2024 emblem representing both the Olympic Flame and Marianne, the personification of the French Republic.
